Teachings on Ephesians

“Theology” – Jude 1:3 (Tuesday 7/13/21)

Watch (Video) Listen (Audio) Pastor Jim introduces the idea of the “Five Solas”. ‘Sola’ is Latin for ‘alone’. These are doctrines introduced by Martin Luther during the Reformation. The five solas are grace, faith, Christ, scripture and God’s glory: grace, meaning salvation is through the grace of God alone; faith, meaning we are justified by faith alone, not works; Christ, meaning we access salvation through the righteous acts of Christ alone; scripture, meaning the Bible alone is a believer’s ultimate…

“Jesus, the True Lover” – Ephesians 5:20-33 (Tuesday 4/6/21)

In Ephesians 5:20-33, submission to each other, submission in the marriage and submission to Christ is outlined. In Verse 20 of Ephesians 5 we are told to give thanks always in all things. This is not easy, but we can do all things through Christ. In verse 21 we are told to submit to one another. Submission is a military term to submit to one in authority. This means that we all have authority in Christ. In Verse 21, wives…

“Imitator of Christ” – Ephesians 5:1-23 (Tuesday 3/30/21)

In Chapter 5 of Ephesians the emphasis is on being an imitator of Christ.  To do this we must be willing to submit to Christ for the sake of His purpose. We are not to walk with the world but in thankfulness.  We are to expose the darkness by the light which is the truth (God’s Word).

“Walk in Unity” – Ephesians 4 (Tuesday 3/23/21)

To walk worthy of your calling means to walk with unity in mind with lowliness, gentleness and long suffering. We are like a brick in the building that houses God.  Not one brick is better than the other and all have a certain location. The Holy Spirit gives each Christian the gift needed for the particular place they are to fill in God’s building.

“I’m a New Creation” – Ephesians 2:10-22 (Tuesday 3/21/21)

This sermon is a continuation of the Ephesians Bible Study Teaching and describes who we are in Christ. Jesus has made the uncircumcised (gentile believers) circumcised through Christ who has cut away our sinful flesh (Ephesians 2:11, Colossians 2:11)  Jesus has broken down that wall that separates us from God and from the Jews and has given us peace and is our peace (John 14:27, Isaiah 9:6, Luke 2:14, Romans 5:1, Philippians 4:6-7, Isaiah 26:3-4) This means that we do not…

“Manifold Wisdom of God and the Abundance of Grace” – Ephesians 3 (Tuesday 3/16/21)

In Ephesians 3 verse 1 Paul says he is a prisoner of Christ Jesus for you Gentiles.  He does not say he is a prisoner of Rome, but of Jesus.  He recognized God’s sovereignty and God used him mightily.  In our life we should recognize that God is in control and submit to His will for the sake of bring others to Christ.  Paul goes on to explain in chapter 3 the mystery (Romans 11:25 and 16:25), that has been…

“Dead No More” – Ephesians 2:1-9 (Tuesday 3/9/21)

Ephesians 2: 1-9 Ephesians chapter 2 continues to describe what we have in Christ.  Jesus made us alive when we were dead in sins through the riches of Gods mercy and love. We are raised up together with Christ and are sitting in heavenly places. We are saved by grace through faith. Even our belief is by the grace of God. So many people focus on their sins and get in front of the cross.  We should focus on what…

“Riches in Christ” – Ephesians 1 (Tuesday 3/2/21)

This chapter shows us what we have with our salvation such as every spiritual blessing (v3), chosen by God before the foundation of the world, holy and without blame (v4), predestined (v5), accepted (v6), bought back (v 7), inheritance (v11), sealed with the Holy Spirit into eternal security (v13), spirit of wisdom (v 17), riches of His glory (v18) to name a few. Our society is plagued with depression, but if a Christian knows what the Bible says about what…
