King Ahasuerus rules over a large portion of the ancient middle east and decides to throw a banquet to show off the riches and splendor of his kingdom. After drunkenly carousing for many days at a time, the King summons his Queen to show off her beauty to his constituents. In an unprecented act of rebellion, Queen Vashti refuses to obey her King’s command, which angers the King, and after consulting with his officials, the King sends out a decree to dethrone Queen Vashti. Pastor Keith reminds us that in moments of heightened emotion, we should always consult God before making hasty decisions, unlike King Ahasuerus. Nevertheless, God’s will has a way of presiding over all circumstances, even when we least expect it.
